Only 100 yards? A deer will cover that in 10 seconds. I will search a half mile and once I searched 1 full mile. I found that buck bedded up with 3 legs and still alive. I put the finishing shot on him about 1.25 miles from where I originally shot him. If you had 2 buddies with you it should have been easy to split up and search more than 100 yards. Just my opinion, dude.

where you using a rifle or a shotgun? the reason I ask. is that I have two bad experiences with hunting with ballistic tip bullets just curious.

I agree 100 yards is nothing for a wounded deer. I have trailed deer shot right through the heart with a 308 for over 1/4 mile.

BTW that mount looks amazing.
